Mihai Eminescu Trust

Mihai Eminescu Trust is dedicated to preserving the local heritage and reviving the villages and communes of Transylvania and Maramureș, two of the most authentic areas of Europe. Mihai Eminescu Trust Romania was founded in 2000 and since then has carried out more than 1,300 projects for the protection and restoration of historical and cultural heritage, being actively involved in the revitalization of villages in Transylvania.

True to its time-tested principles, the Foundation is currently involved in projects that aim to improve the lives of Transylvanian communities, in line with the values inherited from previous generations. On the one hand, MET restores important historical monuments in Transylvania, rehabilitates - with the help of traditional techniques - sheds and household annexes, renovates the facades and roofs of privately and publicly owned houses and buildings and identifies ecological solutions to improve the lifestyle of the inhabitants.

On the other hand, the Foundation promotes the development of local cultural tourism, proposes actions to preserve the nature of the area and supports the revival of ancient crafts and trades. MET represents a partner with valuable “know-how”, which it makes available to communities that want to develop small businesses, helping them maintain their traditional lifestyle, in harmony with the nature and customs of the place.
